I like to walk . I like being outside and moving .My dad likes to walk , too, and we’ve been going on hikes together for as long as I can remember . We’re a good team, and that’s a good thing, since we decided to hike the whole Pacific Crest Trail last summer. The trail (路线) goes through three States California, Oregon, and Washington--- and is 2,650miles. For "thru-hikers” people like Dad and me who hike the whole trail at once, that wouldmean walking all day --- about 25 miles a day --- for five months straight.
Could we do it ? Yes. We'd hiked 90 miles of the trail the year before, so I knew what toexpect. We left our home the last weekend of April. Dad and I carried a tent, sleeping bags, hiking poles , and stuff for meals. We could resupply at stops along the way. We'd timed everythingso that we'd have enough food to last us to the next stop. It was nice to get into a town. Wecould get hot food, wash clothes, and take showers. One of the best things that can happen to you on the trail is finding a "trail angel".Sometimes you'll arrive at a road, and a trail angel will wait to give you a ride into town. The kindness makes a huge difference. We finished the trail on September 24.That was a record-setting day because we hiked 36miles to get to the end. That' s 10 miles farther than a regular day for us! I can' t reallydescribe how I felt when we got to the end. I was happy and amazed, and I could hardly believethat we were finally finished. It was just an awesome feeling. Not many hikers can thru-hikethe trail, and I had just become one of the youngest people ever to do it.
