We’re sitting too much and it’s dangerous. Most Americans spend more than seven hours siting every day, and the more you sit, the weaker your body will be.
Fortunately, there are simple changes you can make during the day-anywhere, even at the workplace—to improve your health.
Park a few blocks away from the office each morning and walk to work.
This allows you to start off your mornings actively and be ready to take on the work. If you take the bus, get off one stop earlier to take some light exercise before 8 a.m.
Stand up and move around the office once every 60-90 minutes.
When you’re busy with work, it’s easy to forget the time. Set the alarm to remind you to stand up and take a walk around the office. You can use this time to fill up your water bottle or go to the bathroom.
Ask questions and discuss questions face to face.
Go to your co-worker’s office to discuss questions face to face, rather than send an e-mail every time you have a question. This gives you a good excuse to move.
Use your lunch break to move around outside.

Have you ever thought of taking a train and having an adventure? Riding the train can be a real adventure. That is how I feel every time I take Amtrak. I often take a four-hour trip to visit my children. Every time I take this trip, I never know what will happen.
Last week when I was on the train and over an hour into the train ride, there was a man sitting by himself in the back of the train carrying on a mobile phone conversation-in another language. It was loud and disturbed most of the people on the train. I thought it was annoying.
Fortunately, I sat next to a wonderful old lady who was taking a two-day trip by train. She said her two daughters were distraught at the thought of her driving for three days to reach her home, although she had no trouble driving. The train ride was the only choice for her. She loved to look out of the window and watch the world go by on the train.
She was fun to talk to and asked me when my children started being parents. That is a very good question. Both of us are old and have children. She asked that same question from time to time.
There are always many people on the train from all walks of life, different countries, and many languages. Riding the train is a great way to increase your knowledge and take in all kinds of cultures. If you get hungry, you can buy food in the food car at any time. If you need to use the restroom there is always one available.

My problems started after I went to a boarding school. I was only 16, and at first I missed my family a lot. I often called them and cried on the phone. But after two weeks, I found it easy to get along with my classmates at school.
I had many friends who were boys. I thought of them as my best friends-but only friends. I never guessed my friendships with boys would become a problem.
Then, three months later, my friends told me that some teachers and girls said I was walking too much with boys. Several months after that. the head teacher Mr. Li asked the class to choose some students to join the Student Union. I thought I could win for I was doing well in school.
